Therapy for latinx

Therapy for life transitions, stress and intergenerational trauma in Irvine and throughout California
Are you struggling with balancing who you are with who your family and culture expects you to be?

Are you ready to be the one to end your family’s intergenerational trauma?

Maybe you have a hard time creating boundaries between you and family members, or perhaps you have always dealt with excessive expectations and pressures placed on you. You may be feeling resentment towards your family or simply experiencing the intergenerational trauma and attachment wounds in your family. Perhaps you’re feeling stuck in expressing yourself and goals in a way that honors both you and your culture.

Whatever it is that you’re experiencing, you’re beginning to notice the impact of this in every facet of your life:

  • Difficulty with relationships due to attachment wounds

  • Confusion on value differences and feeling misunderstood

  • Fear of disappointing or letting your family down after so much pressure

  • Increased awareness of intergenerational trauma and the impact it’s had on you and your family

Therapy for Latinx helps you do these things:

  • Identify and process the deep intergenerational patterns, traumas and roots of what you’re experiencing

  • Understand yourself and your family on a deeper level and through a lens of compassion due to the intergenerational trauma, attachment wounds and hardships they have experienced

  • Process and integrate your experience growing up as a Latinx with all it’s cultural complexities

  • Learn tools to stop the intergenerational trauma with you and begin a life of healing for not only yourself but the generations after you as well

  • Create healthy communication between you and your loved ones

  • Feel empowered in creating boundaries and being true to yourself and your needs

I’ll help through this process, tailoring each step to your unique needs and circumstances. My approach to Latinx therapy comes from a place of understanding and social justice: Believing that neither you or your family are “the problem” but it’s simply an unhealthy cycle that’s been passed down for generations. You deserve healing, and your family, ancestors, and generations to come do too.

Intergenerational Trauma and Excessive cultural expectations doesn’t have to be your story any longer.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What are Therapy for Latinx sessions like?

A: Starting off with trust is my first goal, and creating a space for you to feel seen and understood is imperative to your success. Through that, we’ll map out your intergenerational trauma, identify the roots of your family dynamics and process your lived experiences. As we name your pain, we’ll be able to identify the tools to find balance and peace.

Q: How long do I need to be in therapy?

A: I find that my clients usually find the most transformative change with a minimum of 12 sessions, weekly. As always, we check in on how you’re feeling with progress and can always stop treatment at any time.

Q: How do I know if Therapy for Latinx will work for me?

A: While I can’t make guarantees, I know that the strongest predictor of success in therapy is your relationship with me. I’m confident that working with someone who also identifies as Latinx will give you the support and compassion to feel empowered in your growth. We all look for providers that really know what we’re going through, and I know because I’ve been there too.

Q: How do we get started?

A: I’m ready when you are! Let’s set up a complimentary 15 minute consultation here. I prefer email, and we can set up a time to chat that works for both of us. During the consultation, you’ll share your concerns with me, I’ll share a little more about how I work and if we feel that we’d be a good fit - we can go over scheduling and availability and get started on your healing.
